Product Description

Coatesia Red Oxide Primer is a general purpose metal primer based on synthetic resin medium and red oxide of iron, acting as an anticorrosive pigment. Suitable for all service conditions.

Application Details & Surface Preparation

Surface Cleaning

Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from rust, grease, wax or dirt.

Surface Preparation

Remove mill scale, rust and loose material using abrasive paper or wire brush.

Primer Coat

Apply 1–2 coats of Coatesia Red Oxide Metal Primer before top coats.

Filler

Grey Knifing Paste Filler (Air Drying / Stoving) – Refer datasheet.

Application Environment

Stoving: Flash-off 30 min → 30 min at 100°C.

Drying Time

Air Dry: 8 hrs (dry scuff), 16–18 hrs (wet scuff).

Precautions

  • Store in well-ventilated areas under ambient conditions and away from sources of ignition or fire
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • In case of eye or skin contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
  • Inhalation or ingestion is dangerous. If exposure occurs, move to fresh air immediately and consult a medical practitioner
  • Do not apply when the ambient temperature may drop below 10°C within 4 hours of application. Avoid excessive thinning for best results
  • Keep the container tightly closed when not in use. Stir well before use.
  • Use appropriate safety equipment such as rubber or polythene gloves, safety goggles or glasses, and a face mask
